This is just a quick update on my future and my content on this site.
Here we go:
For the next 9 months, starting on October 1st, I'll be working as a paramedic. In Austria, you either have to chose between 6 months of army or 9 months of alternative service once you're 18, and I chose the alternative service. (I turned 19 yesterday, basically you have to do your duties after graduating from High School)
Before I could even go to Art School, I gotta do my duties as an Austrian first, which I'm not too thrilled about.
That means that I won't have as much time to spend on painting and improving. However, I will try my best to find time for that. I really don't wanna let these 9 months entirely go to waste in that regard. I bought a sketchbook some time ago, so I can easily go back to a traditional medium and take it everywhere with me.
Back to Basics:
What I'm trying to focus on in my art for now are the fundamentals. I gotta practice value, form, shape, light, shadow, perspective, anatomy, color, all that good stuff. It's the essentials that you have to get right, and I want to get them right.
It's of course something that we all would like to skip and immediately get into painting all the cool dragons and whatnot, but if you really want to improve, you gotta have the discipline for the fundamentals as well. It will pay off though, improving the quality of your work.
So I think that most of the things I'll post in the future will be more studies rather than other things.
